We live in a time where everything is immediate. While that’s awesome most of the time (you can buy just about anything and either pick it up that day, have it delivered that day, or have it delivered the next day), with fitness and nutrition goals, that mentality is maddening, and can be a bit mentally draining.
It’s extremely important to set proper expectations. If you’re working on yourself and trying to lose (or gain) weight. IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. If you’re trying to lose weight, it takes time. A sustainable weight loss is usually 1-2 pounds per week. If you’re trying to lose 30 pounds, at that pace, that’s 15 weeks. That’s 3+ months. To think of this another way, you didn’t gain that 30 pounds overnight.
It’s not going to come off that way, either. Gaining muscle is extremely difficult and takes time as well. The person you see in the gym or on Instagram that’s extremely fit didn’t get that way overnight.
If you’re working on yourself, and you show up for yourself most of the time, down the road – whether it’s weeks or months – “in-the-past” you will be proud of “where-you-are-now” you currently sits. Please don’t deny “in-the-past” you that opportunity! Keep showing up for yourself. Give time time!
